School Board Candidates

You can make use of the forms that we have taken from the State Board of Elections’ Candidate's Guide in filing your petition to run. You should review the Candidate's Guide, which is available here.

An excerpt from the Candidate's Guide regarding running for the Board of Education is here.

You will need to file in a packet, securely bound along one edge, the following:

  • A Statement of Candidacy, Form P-1A. This must be filled-out, signed and notarized.

  • Consecutively-numbered petition sheets, use Form P-7 (unless you are running in School District 218, then use Form P-7A). Every School District in Cook County has more than 500 voters, so you need to file at least 50 valid signatures. You are running for Member of the Board of Education at the Consolidated Election to be held on April 7, 2015. You are probably running for a full term, but if there is a two-year vacancy in your School District and you want to run for it, be sure to indicate that at the appropriate point in the petition sheet’s heading.

  • A Receipt for filing a Statement of Economic Interests. The Receipt is a copy of the Statement with a file stamp, which you will get when you file the original Statement with the County Clerk. For more information on filing the Statement of Economic Interests, click here.

You can also file:

  • A Loyalty Oath, Form 1-C.
